inspiration: all the colours

Has it really been almost two weeks since my last blog post? Whoops. Whenever I seem to be losing my blogging mojo or am lacking in creativity, nothing gets the creative juices flowing again quite like a quick scroll through Pinterest. And by "quick scroll" I mean "getting sucked into a never ending wormhole of outfit inspiration, interiors shots, DIY ideas, and recipes that I'll bookmark and will likely never make". This is just an example of what I've been pinning, liking, and generally drawing inspiration from lately.

1. Colourful winter outfit inspiration via Who What Wear.
2. Paintings by Yolanda Sanchez.
3. Romance Was Born looks as featured in Harper's Bazaar Australia.

instagram diaries: patterns

These Instagram round-ups are becoming kind of redundant since I added an Instagram widget to my sidebar. But I thought I'd do one anyway because this is my blog and I can. Lately I've noticed that I'm developing a pattern for gravitating towards all things, well, patterned. Cases in point:

1. This Gorman tee I bought during a sale the other week. Happy face.
2. DIY striped canvas, which you can find the tutorial on a couple of posts down.
3. Fabric scouting. Found these super cute chevron and spotty patterns at Spotlight.
4. Chevrons! Vogue! Karlie! Gatsby!
5. Mum's birthday cake, heavily disguised by icing sugar. Plus spotty wrapping paper.
6. Tiled brick walls in Spencer Lane for some Arabian themed markets. It was a bust.

the essentials

This year I made a resolution to get back to basics with my wardrobe. To invest in quality, classic pieces that can be dressed up or down etc. However, putting this into action has been a whole different story. Mostly because I'm so easily distracted every time I go clothes shopping. Shiny silver jumper? Leopard print pants? I'm there! So today I compiled this shopping list of sorts. It's all the stuff I should consider buying before I purchase another Gorman printed top or eye-poppingly bright knitwear.

MOTO Fitted Denim Jacket - There was a time where I wouldn't go near denim jackets. But now I can't get enough of them. A fitted, light denim style would slot nicely into my wardrobe. It breaks up the monotony of black but can still be counted as a neutral. Plus it'd also look good with bright or pastel colours which, let's face it, makes up the majority of my wardrobe.

Hope 'Has' Tee at La Garçonne - My trusty striped t-shirt is on death's door so I'm looking for a replacement. Just like finding the perfect white t-shirt, the perfect striped t-shirt is proving to be elusive. Most of the ones I come across are either the wrong cut, colour, or fabric. Yes, I'm a pedant. I'd ultimately like to find one under the $100 mark but I feel as if my hand is going to be forced on this one.

Ray-Ban Clubmasters at Vision Direct - I left my old clubmasters on the Eurostar in Paris two years ago. I've been mourning their loss ever since. It's probably about time I bought a replacement pair.

Topshop Cigarette TrousersI hate pants shopping. But I need to bite the bullet and find a pair of (flattering) cigarette-style trousers so I can pretend I'm all gamine and Audrey Hepburn-like.

ASOS 'Abacus' Leather Ankle BootsShort, flat ankle boots for winter. To wear with everything. They're a no brainer, really.

ASOS Rib Boyfriend Beanie - In case it ever actually gets cold in Brisbane this winter.
